“Psychology for All” lecture series
In cooperation with the Hungarian Psychological Association, two lectures are held each year one in spring and one in autumn as part of the ‘Psychology for Everyone’ lecture series. These lectures, open to everyone, aim to make psychological knowledge accessible and practical. Each talk combines scientific insight with everyday relevance, offering useful tools and perspectives for both professionals and the general public.

2. OLD AGE FROM A NEW PERSPECTIVE
European Seminar organized by the European Federation of Psychological Associations (EFPA) and the Hungarian Psychological Association (MPT)
The event will explore aging from multiple psychological and interdisciplinary angles across four thematic sessions. Topics include positive resources and cognitive changes in later life, the psychological and social challenges of aging (such as dementia, depression, and institutional care), and the specific experiences of aging among women. A dedicated session will focus on active aging through work, competition, and leisure, including intergenerational dynamics and career development programs. The seminar will close with an interactive roundtable discussion involving the audience, centered on the practical and societal dimensions of active aging. The program features expert speakers from universities, health institutions, and civil organizations across Hungary.

3. “Trauma in the Shadow of Helping — Trauma-Informed Practice in Professional Settings”
Annual Conference of the Standing Committee for Crisis, Trauma and Disaster Psychology
of the Hungarian Psychological Association (MPT)
This year marks the third annual conference of the Section, featuring invited keynote speakers as well as additional presentations and posters selected.
The conference will primarily address:
• The practical application of trauma-informed approaches
• The treatment and support of trauma and PTSD
• The preservation of mental health among professionals

4. KÖRBE – Environmental Psychology Conversations
An Interdisciplinary Conference on the Environment
Motto: „Sustainability – present – construction”
The KÖRBE – Environmental Psychology Conversations interdisciplinary professional conference was launched in 2013 with the intention of creating a tradition, based on an idea by our then-PhD student Judit Juhász. Our aim was to bring together those working in the field of environmental psychology and representatives of related disciplines, to foster dialogue, share knowledge, and enrich perspectives on the environment.
According to the environmental psychology perspective, the physical environment is an equal partner to the human being, meaning it interacts with internal, psychological processes and together they shape human behavior. This approach allows us to ask and answer a wide range of psychologically rooted questions about people as they manifest in built, material, natural, and even virtual environments.
This conference will focus on the psychological dimensions of the climate crisis. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, it will explore how individuals and communities perceive, respond to, and are affected by environmental change.

5. EuroPsy – Empower Your Practice!
EFPA’s European Standard of Education, Professional Training, and Competence in Psychology
Increasingly, psychologists today have the opportunity to apply their professional skills not only in their home country but also on an international level. In these cases, it becomes crucial that their qualifications and professional experience can be easily verified and recognized.
To support this, the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) established the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy) — a framework that allows psychologists who meet the educational and professional requirements to be entered into the EuroPsy Register, which is recognized across the European Union. This certification is not only a sign of professional excellence but also facilitates cross-border professional mobility.
The EuroPsy also provides an opportunity for international graduates who have obtained their psychology degree in Hungary to receive the certificate after completing the required post-degree supervised practice.
On November 4, 2025, the European EuroPsy Committee will hold its next meeting in Budapest. On this occasion, the Chair of the European Committee and the leaders of the Hungarian EuroPsy Committee will give a presentation introducing the EuroPsy system and explaining the requirements and procedures for obtaining the EuroPsy certificate in Hungary.
The event provides an excellent opportunity for students, practicing professionals, and university lecturers involved in psychology education to gain a comprehensive understanding of the EuroPsy system and the benefits associated with certification at both national and international levels. Participants will also receive practical guidance on how to plan their professional development to pave a clear path toward earning the European Certificate in Psychology.

6.”The Role of Ethics in Modern Organizations”
Organized by the Work and Organizational Psychology Chapter of the Hungarian Psychological Association (MPT), in partnership with the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).
The multidisciplinary conference, focusing on ethical organizational practices, invites abstract submissions for presentations and roundtable discussions in three main thematic areas by August 15: sustainable work and business environments, ethical corporate governance and HR, and employees’ psychosocial well-being and diversity.

7.“…Helping can also be a passion…” Scientific Conference in Memory of Flóra Kozmutza (1905–1995), Special Education Teacher and Psychologist
This conference is organized in honor of Flóra Kozmutza. Flóra Kozmutza (1905–1995) worked as a special education teacher and psychologist. She is known as a pioneer, reformer, and systematizer of special needs education of psychology in Hungary. Through her work, she expanded the scope of psychology of special needs and played a key role in establishing the Institute for the Psychology of Special Needs. The conference will review the life and professional legacy of this outstanding figure in psychology of special needs, highlighting the main pillars of her scientific work and her organizational and research activities aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities. Fifty years ago, with the help of her colleagues, she contributed to the development of somatopedagogy as a specialized field.
We are organizing this scientific meeting on November 20, 2025, to commemorate the 120th anniversary of her birth and the 30th anniversary of her death, in connection with the Hungarian Science Festival series of events.
Flóra Kozmutza’s life is also intertwined with Hungarian literary scholarship: she is known for her relationship with the poet Attila József, and as the wife of writer and poet Gyula Illyés, she became the custodian of his literary legacy. Her multifaceted personality makes her truly worthy of commemoration on these anniversaries from the perspectives of psychology of special needs, psychology, and special needs education.

Lecture of the year: Tamas Bereczkei – Mismatch. The evolutionary traps of modern civilization
“Lecture of the year” is a flagship event of the Hungarian Psychological Association, recognizing Hungarian psychologists who have made significant contributions to the field or reached important milestones nationally or internationally. The lecture highlights their work and its relevance to both professionals and the wider public.
The living conditions of human being equipped with the achievemets of industrial and communication revolutions are radically new and unusual, compared to how the human species has existed over the past millions of years. Our modern metropolitan living space is completely different from the natural and social environment in which humans evolved Our abilities, developed over millions of years, can hardly or not cope with the challenges of modern civilization. There is a mismatch between the two, which is the source of many of our physical and mental ailments, from obesity to addictions to depression, At the same time, I argue that this is not a fate, but a task. We must learn to reconcile our ancient nature with the world of modernization.
